RTP Site Lead, Finance and Controlling

Job Description

Located at our US headquarters, the RTP, NC Site Finance and Controlling lead will be responsible for leading the primary accounting and finance functions for the Solvias North America business. This leadership role will support the development of short-term and long-term business strategies through business case analysis and professional advice as a key member of the business team. This is a matrixed role with direct support of corporate planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and other critical accounting and finance functions.

Critical Performance Areas

  • Work directly with the RTP site head, RTP site leadership team, the Solvias finance team, and other functional stakeholders to provide accurate and sound information for decision-making, performance management, and delivery of financial commitments
  • Develop and support a realistic site financial and operating budget based on corporate and functional guidance
  • Support the development of accurate and realistic revenue and expense forecasts
  • Keep the site head, GM US and site leadership team customers advised of time-sensitive and priority issues, ensuring appropriate follow-up
  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior managers by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data
  • Guide financial and operating decisions by analyzing financial performance and applying that information to business priorities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines
  • Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions
  • Help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies
  • Direct support of strategic initiatives such as ERP deployment and capital programing

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage all aspects of accounting; oversee accounts payable, receivable, systems, and provide financial information to global management
  • Conduct financial analysis and prepare detailed financial reports that are issued on time and accurately reflect the company’s financial position
  • Develop budgets and financial forecasts; manage the budget process including establishing budgets, tracking expenses, and monitoring performance metrics
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Handle payroll processing and ensure the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements, including tax planning and compliance
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to protect the company’s assets, policies, and procedures
  • Work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and GM US to identify and implement best practices and support presentations to the board

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent degree
  • Five years’ prior experience in senior accounting role, site controller, finance head, or value-stream financial leadership role in the life sciences, CRO, CDMO, or similar industry setting
  • Strong leadership skills; experience leading accounting teams, creating an environment of trust and productivity
  • Proven experience in a pharmaceutical environment
  • In-depth knowledge of financial acumen and principles
  • Familiarity with financial statements and forecasting
  • Ability to implement new procedures, and accounting software programs, including ERP rollouts and usage
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent computer skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Excel)
  • Expert skill in spreadsheet analysis (Excel)
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills

Other Desired Skills/Abilities

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Prior experience with deploying and/or using a variety of systems such as financial reporting, CRM, HRIS, and other systems to analyze financial data
  • Previous experience working in a global economy
  • The ability to identify and anticipate customer needs
  • Efficient, professional, interaction with a broad range of stakeholders
  • The ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential financial, legal, personnel and institutional information with discretion
